This app is so funny and that made me want to keep using it. The definitions are simple and clear--they are used in a way that isnt confusing like a dictionary can be. Instead the "definitions" are explained in very simple and practical ways. Also, the vocabulary poems are read to you by actors, so you can just listen and that makes it easier to remember what the words mean. Rhyme and humor--so good for teaching. I cant wait for the next 350 words to be added to this app. BUY IT! Youll be very glad you did.

This app is A+mazing!!! It is a very fun and educational way to prepare myself for the SAT!!

I have gifted this app to all my nieces and nephews; even those still more than a few years away from taking the SAT. They particularly like using the app on plane rides, because it works in airplane mode. My nephew with ADD loves it! It holds his attention much easier than rote flash cards. Its a fun dinner game for my twin 13 year old nieces who try to "out-Slam" each other! I love the different ways to use the app. I can read if I cant listen or I can listen when I want. The teach me function is perfect for if (when) I miss a test word, and return to test is very convenient. This app designer has a gift for language and a great sense of humor. I would give it 10 stars but Apple wont let me;) Smart is the new cool!

I have been working with Chinese high school students with SAT and TOEFL prep and this is the app I use to teach them new vocabulary. Whoever made this has created a learning tool that can cross the cultural barriers between two countries that often highlight more differences than similarities. Point is, this is an effective learning tool for international students too!

As a teacher, I appreciate the good practices and pedagogy behind this app. When it launched, it was already the best on the market. Each update separates it from the field even more.

So clever! I am having fun while I expand my vocabulary. I wish I had access to this when I was taking the SATs - but its never too late to learn, especially when its so enjoyable! What a great gift!

Yessir, simply amazing!! I havent had this much fun learning vocabulary and word definitions since Mrs. Polnicheks eighth grade English class. She wore short skirts and liked to sit on her desk while pop quizzing us on word meanings and proper usage. It was the only class I ever sat in the front row for. She was a good teacher... I learned a lot. Anyhoo... This app reminds me of how much fun learning can be and how easy it is when you have the right tools at your disposal and boy, did they ever craft a great tool here! This new version takes everything great about the last version like the quizzes, the voices and the humor and then they added a TON of new features and turned it into something really exceptional. From a visual standpoint the interface is really gorgeous; its intuitive, easy to use and even comes with its own user tutorial so you dont have to waste a single minute trying to learn the new features, you can jump right in and start learning. Another thing that I love is how solid this app really is. How many times have you bought an app and spent more time rebooting it than actually using it? Tons right? Not here, it just works and it works well. Whats really impressive is how much thought and care went into the design and development of the SAT Word Slam. This is an app created by a teacher who loves to teach, and it really shows. Where this app really shines though is in the results. Ive noticed my vocabulary expand along with my ability to easily retain the definitions using the mnemonic techniques used in the app. Ive not only impressed myself, but Ive impressed my friends and co-workers as well. That is why I say this app is an investment youll really appreciate. In fact, I was so impressed, I went out and bought the book as well. Mrs. Polnicheck would be proud of me. I wonder what shes doing these days... Did I mention Ive been working out?

This app makes learning new words so much fun some of the definitions and the rhymes are funny which is a big bonus

This one is truly entertaining. All the others, like the Princeton Review, et al. are merely flashcards masquerading as an app. Cheers to Word Slam for its jocular wit. The voice actors add to it immensely, and the questions are written in a way thats memorable. The teaching uses audio and visual memory triggers by talking about the words in witty, interesting, and humorous ways. This app embarrasses its competitors in the field of SAT vocab by actually keeping you engaged with its charm. And the new updates make it even better. Im looking forward to buying some new word lists when they come out. Price of this app is well spent.

Ive been out of college for 6 years now and I wanted to keep my brain active with new vocabulary. For some reason I felt like I was becoming less intelligent by not adding to my lexicon. At any rate...I love the app, but I wish that we could see a list of "the word is day". If I open the app after its been released its gone.

Great app made better by allowing a save function of 15-20 playlists and the same number for tests. Tests that reset after you close the app are a pain to use in multiple classes. Still, this teacher appreciates the effort that went into the app.

Very good and hard

This is the only app youll need if you want your kid to score well on the SAT. Kids love the rhymes, the humor, the interactive aspect of the app. Other apps are simply flashcards. This app allows the kid to store the information in several different modalities of the brain - visual, auditory and emotion (humor!). If you want to increase the chances of your teen scoring a perfect score on the SAT, get this app! It worked for us - your kid will start enjoying the process of learning and retaining words and their meanings!!!!!!!

This is a great app that is actually helping me learn words...I love the songs and funny voices, and their unique way of teaching helps to remember the words.

I have learned so much, my whole family uses it together, highly recommend this app!
